Thrips typicus Masumoto & Okajima, 2013

This species is mainly collected from the flowers of Asteraceae such as Solidago virgaurea, Jacobaea cannabifolia and Cirsium species in the mountainous area of Honshu at July to September. It is similar to T. brevicornis Priesne and T. setosus Moulton. From this species, T. brevicornis can be distinguished by the uniformly pale body and T. setosus can be distinguished by the dark fore wing with base pale. Moreover, T. typicus is similar to a European species, T. fulvipes Bagnall but fulvipes can be distinguished from typicus by having longer and slender antennae, and the segments III and IV with distinct apical neck.
